This encyclopedia of philosophy is a volunteer project by specialists in philosophy to describe key terms, concepts, and people in the philosophical endeavor. Unlike Wikipedia, the IEP is stewarded by general editors James Fieser and Bradley Dowden. Most of the articles in The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy are original contributions by specialized philosophers around the Internet; these are identifiable by the author's name at the foot of the article. Others are are temporary, or "proto articles," and have largely been adapted from older sources. The IEP is highly recommended as an introduction to the subjects it covers.
